Natural tx for "depression"?

I'm severely depressed, but can't tolerate the RX's. I've been disabled w/Lupus, CFIDS, etc., etc., and anyone of them can cause it.

Has anyone found anything natural that helps (other than St. John's Wort"?

Thanks..............carole

Have you tried fish oil? That's the most commonly accepted alternative.

Re: Natural tx for "depression"?

Yes, I'm taking EFA's. Finally went to a new Dr., and he's testing "everything". Hormones, adrenals, thyroid, etc. It could be that I just need to "up" my thyroid RX, as my body temp is way low.

Thanks for responding.

I wish!! Although I think Vit B complex makes me feel a little better - less spacey.

Re: Natural tx for "depression"?

I just checked out the site of a doctor I respect (Ronald Hoffman) and he mentions Rosavin for depression (I think Rosavin is the brand, Rhodiola Rosea extract is the product). I know nothing about it, I just wanted to let you know so you can maybe do a little research. I'm actually going to look it up myself and maybe try it. I'll let you know about the results.
good luck.

Re: Natural tx for "depression"?

i had depression for many years. i started taking multi-vitamins, trace minerals and did acupuncture. it took 4 months, but the depression did go away. i do go back about every other year though for a "tune-up."

Eliminating (or at least cutting way back on) wheat helps many.
