Acupucture instead of a nerve block??
This posting is really for my father. So he has been having severe neck/sjoulder pain due to spinal nerve spur. He was given a few injections of cortisol, which did alleviate pain for awhile. He was then recommended either a nerve block or acupucture. He opted for the acupucture. He went about 5 times and he then got severly constipated and swears up and down it was because of the acupuncture. Now he has given up on it and is scheduling an appointment for a nerve block and if that doesn't work, a laminectomy in the future. My question is this - Is constipation a possible side effect of acupuncture or was it just caused by something else? Also, has anyone had any experience with acupunture as an alternitive to a nerve block? Any information would be greatly appreciated, I would hate to see my father go through an unneccessary medical procedure. Thanks
