Is it normal to hurt in skin when getting needles from acupuncture in and out? - Alternative Medicine Message Board

Hey,

Well ive had 2 acupuncture treatments so far. When she puts the needles in I feel a p rick in my skin that kind of hurts just a tad. When she takes them out I feel a p rick too. I also still have marks in my skin in a couple places from getting the treatments yesterday.

Is this normal? I mean I dont care about hurting a little bit from the needles going in and out but I was just curious if its happened to anyone here..

no change so far from the treatments..

it's perfectly normal, particularly when they go in - and some areas are more sensitive/more powerfully stimulated than others, and also depending on what is being treated I guess (for me the feet and wrists ache more than the legs, arms, ears, head and chest where I also have needles)

Is it normal to not see any results after 2 visits?

acupuncture is not a miracle cure and big results won't come after 2 sessions. You might notice more after a series of 6 or more treatments. Anothing thing is acupuncture is only a piece of the entire traditional chinese medicine treatment regimen. The others include massage, chi kung, and herbs. It's effectiveness is based more on the practitioner's experience, training, and sensetivity then the method itself. If acupuncture isn't working for you then you might want to take a look at other practitoners in your area. There are various websites and directories you can look in on the web that'll help you find a certified practitioner and their specialties.

she gave me a yellow powder for anxiety and herbs for ibs. shes been in it 13 years..
