Is there anything I can take to sleep BESIDES Diphenhydramine? It makes me sleep great, but it's antihistamine effects make me feel like crap. I need something that will work for sure.
Valerian root capsules work for me. Just don't wash them down with a carbonated drink because they taste and smell rather nasty -- you sure don't want to *burp* them!
Melatonin works good for sleep. However, just take it long enough to regulate your sleep patterns, don't take it long term. If you take synthetic melatonin for too long, your body becomes reliant on it and it can mess with your brain's natural ability to produce melatonin on its own.

I totally agree with Kittywitty. Melatonin has worked wonders for me in the past. It helped me to get good sleep and not feel zonked out the following morning.
I've heard good things about valerian root as well, but haven't tried it.
Give them a try and see how it goes. Good luck! It really stinks to not be able to get a good restful sleep at night.
I use Valerian Root, I didn't purchase it with the intent of helping my sleep habits. My mom suggested that it could help with my anxiety. I have only been taking it for 2 weeks, but thus far it has helped me tramendously. My fuse for anxiety has been blown out, I sleep so well at night. It's almost like I get a full 8 hours of deep sleep rather than sleeping for 8 hours and actually only SLEEPING for 5.
I'd suggest it for sleeping issues, I wasn't out to help sleep issues, but it has! =)
