I read one place that it says it first stimulates seritonin and dopamine production or prevents the breakdown of them, but then after continued use it leads to a depletion of these same chemicals. Of course, the last thing I want to do is have low levels of these neurotransmitters as I'm trying very hard to keep them high for mood, energy, and focus (especially during stressful times, like coming up). I'm not sure the article that said that was too credible, just looking for some second opinions. Maybe from those who have tried this herb before. Anybody who has tried this herb and might be able to say from their experience whether after a while it seems as if they were feeling lower than before (because of the depleted neurotransmitters).


I understand as an adaptogen I should stop using it for a month after 3 months or so and then I can resume. Maybe, if it does indeed deplete them after prolonged use, this might curb that?
