Acupuncture question

I went for my first treatment yesterday. I mainly went for sinus/allergy fatigue. I think ti has helped. He wanted me to try low wheat, low dairy, low sugar to see if i got some relief. I have issues with textures so i know i dont' eat enough fruit/veggies. I mentioned this and that is why i don't eat salads. He made a comment not to over do them since they are "cold" I didn't really understand this.. not that i mind.. The acupuncturist didn't have any reading info for me and had a Russian accent. I could understand him, but i like to research/read up on things and i don't have that much to go on. Do you know of any books that are an interesting read? Not sure i'd finish something that was too dry or text book

thanks

Re: Acupuncture question

he told me on my last treatment (3-4 x so far) that radishes and turnips would be really good to break up the mucous. Of course that doesn't sound good to me. He said the spices that i should eat are the cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. I went in Tuesday with a lot of pain thinking my sinus infection was back. It wasn't, i just have a full blown cold now that was going around the office. I've always added extra cinnamon to my oatmeal in the morning, now just a little more.

He went deeper with the needles this time.. He said until i make changes in my diet i'm not going to feel better (sinuses). At least during this cold i'm cutting out nearly all wheat and dairy. I got some kennykenick bread. It isn't that bad except for the price. It is 1/4 of the food and 2-3 times the price of other breads.

can't wait to see how i feel after this cold runs its course. I still believe that stopping the Yaz really helped my fatigue/sinus symptoms. I'll go a few more times before i make a decision. It would be nice if i could just go 1-2 times a month and feel great

one thing that i did notice after the first few treatments, my tongue was better. When this cold set in, more swollen and sore. That was with very little diet change..

Re: Acupuncture question

Try oregano oil... at health food store. Buy capsules, bite into one, opens your head... upsets my stomach alittle...
Helps my sinusitis....
Good luck!

Thumbs up Re: Acupuncture question

Hi

I have been taking acupuncture treatments since '97 for Chrohne's as well as keeping a balanced healthy diet.

I always choose to go with Chinese acupuncturists since I believe they know better what they're doing, 'cause they study it in China, where it comes from. Best to go with the original.

After he pulls the needles out he prescribes me Chinese plants to boil and drink. It works wonders on my body and immune system. You see, when you eat cold food or drink cold drinks, you upset your body. Our internal body temp is 36 degrees centigrade. Over or bellow that and we're sick. So when you put in your body something which is bellow that temperature will upset your body.

I believe you can google literature and find what you need. But the Chinese philosophy is - don't eat anything too cold or hot, and have a balanced diet. You see you can eat as much meat as you like as long as there's something green on your plate as well.

Hope that helps

Roy

Re: Acupuncture question

"Cold" and "hot" generally relate to Yin-Yang which means the dominant energy type in food.
One may find really interesting the books on Su-jok version of acupuncture with body and it's parts, organs etc. mapped on the palm/fingers, very simple and efficient for self-treatment.
There's been cases of people
having suffered for 20 years of migraine and got relief in minutes by massaging the side of finger by a buchwheet seed.
