| Re: Help, bad ear problems from TMJ
I have this. I have had TMJ problems for over 20 years. Just recently has my jaw gotten so deranged that my ear on my left side is having major problems in hearing. I have been told that I need surgery to repair the joint. As with all surgeries they are a small fortune. What you will find is that our disorder is a SPECIFIC exclusion of health insurance coverage. I am still awaiting my surgery. I am PRAYING that the Obama administration will help those of us suffering. You have been told mostly correctly in that unless you are super rich and can pay your way, you probably will suffer. A surgeon who deals with the jaw joints is who you should see next as dentists do not do that.
In my opinion, TMJ for most people is a medical issue and not a dental one. I have tried every possible dental answer and none worked as this is not a dental problem--it is a joint issue which needs a dr. who specializes in that joint.
I wish you luck and health,
