Homeopathy experience? - extended period of time (at least three months)
Hello and Happy 2010!
I used to frequent these boards all the time under the "digestive disorders" section. I believe now that the cause of my digestion problems is due to stress and anxiety. I have seen 4 GI docs, and no organic cause was found.
I've tried acupuncture and herbs to soothe my digestion-- nothing worked. Even a very promising herbal supplement called Iberogast was of no help.
I am now seeing a homeopath. I am hoping that it will reduce the severity of my anxiety and digestive issues.
Has anyone had any success with homeopathy-- regardless of what you were treated for. I'm just curious, because all of the homeopaths I've looked up have "testimonials" praising the beneficial effects of the treatment they received.
But I'd like to hear more from someone who has gone to see a homeopath for an extended period of time (at least three months) to cure/alleviate a health problem that they have/had.
Absolutely. I had a very similar problem like yours and nothing was helping. Being asthmatic did not help as it aggravated the problem. I went to see a homeopathic doctor and his remedies were the only ones that helped.
Best.

People that have anxiety, nervous stress also have unwanted circulation problems, intestinal problem, stomach problem, and it doesn't end there.
Finding a way to take the stress out of your life is a needed plan. If you don't relax the stress and anxiety, nothing you try is going to end you health concerns.
If you don't take the Homeopathy right, it won't help you either.
Most people that have health concerns that have lasted for more then 6 months,
have to understand that alternative remedies and treatments work. However you must allow the time for what your useing to work. Alternative therapys don't heal anything over night.
I developed digestive problems about 12 years ago, in my late 40's. After keeping a food diary, I narrowed it down to wheat. After doing a fair amount of research, I decided that I had become gluten intolerant. I did go to a doctor eventually, but by the time I could get a doctor to take me seriously and make the appropriate tests, I had been on a gluten-free diet for many months, so the tests didn't show anything. But it is clear to me that as long as I maintain a gluten-free diet, I am free of symptoms.
My point is not that you might also have gluten-intolerance, but that there might be something in your diet that is causing you problems. A food diary would help to see if there is anything that causes or increases the symptoms.
I realize that a lot of people are attracted to homeopathic remedies, because they are supposed to be "natural". But all my research into homeopathic remedies indicates that they are substances that are diluted so much that there is nothing left of the original remedy in them. So they are little bottles of expensive distilled water or sugar pills. But lots of people claim to be helped by them, so, maybe this will work for you.
But there are also other "natural" remedies that might help as well, such as seeing if there is some ingredient or food group that is causing your body to rebel.
I wish you success in getting relief from your symptoms.
I have been using Homeopathy for over 35 years and it works.
You can use it for minor ailments or go as deep as you desire just do the research required or go to a Homeopath that is also a regular MD.
I encourge the use of any thing that works --- Altenative Medicine is not in competition with other forms of medicine -- It all works if used properly!!
Began slowly. But yes. With headaches, stress, sleeping issues, indigestion, gas, muscle aches, skin issues as well as my dd for many medical problems.
And I am not sure why when I am told it is ridiculous and a scam by some.

I went thorugh the same thing for YEARS, docs said it was just "IBS" I said that's sympton, but the the actual disorder/problem. They didn't agree, all the allergy tests they took came back negative. I went thorugh endolab, a private lab to test for wheat/gluten allergy. Came back positive, and have been wheat free for almost 2years. It has changed my life! Also, get rest, eat very good foods, research castor oil packs on the abdomin, taking probiotics can be helpful too. Good luck!
Re: Homeopathy experience? - extended period of time (at least three months)
I have been seeing a homeopath since august 2009. She helped me. After I gave birth, I was getting sick with a head cold every month. My doctor said nothing was wrong with me and there was nothing she could do. so i decided to see a homeopath. My immune system has been normal since I started the remedy.
I brought my daughter and my husband in for a visit because they both have constipation issues. They weren't as successful with their homeopathic remedy. But I'm believe that if I was willing to pay more money for a followup visit, we would get the right remedy eventually. Unfortunately, insurance does not covor these visits and money is tight. I'm glad my husband and my daughter had their initial consultations so that if an emergency ever came up (ie: swine flu), we could easily get treatment from the homeopath. I have also been able to contact my homeopath when my daughter had bronchitis - we used the remedy she gave us (along with some herbs) and were able to treat the bronchitis without antibiotics.
I don't like the philosophy of conventional medicine - so I am happy to have another option. I do believe in homeopathy - if it doesn't work, it means your homeopath didn't get the right remedy for you. So you need to find a homeopath with good intuition that you feel you can trust. good luck!

j4ino--
Wecome to Healthboards!!
You are a very wise person!! But, regular Doctors certainly have their place.
To have normal BMs -- A person has to eat enough fiber-- an adult needs 25 to 35 gms of fiber daily. And, It needs to be a combination of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
You can look on the Bowel Disoders board for a sticky thread Archive at the top of the page -- look at Page 2 post #8 for particulars.
I wish you well---Harry

Harry - I completly agree with you. My family has been very careful to eat as much fiber as possible. It doesn't seem to help. And I don't mean to discredit regular Doctors. I just think that sometimes when they don't have the solution, it is a good idea to look into alternative medicine. The US needs to work towards integrating different philosiphies of medicine to insure the best healthcare...

I agree with you-- I have been using homeopathy for over 35 years and it works but there are not many Homeopathic Doctors around -- none in the state I live in-- You are lucky to have one available. And If the Doctor is an MD -- insurance does usually accept them.
And, by the way soluble is a bulking type and insoluble fiber causes your bowels to move-- you have to have the right combination for normal BMs.
Benefiber that is available will cause a person to have BMs -- you just have to get the dose right!!

I'm also gluten intolerant and had to find this out on my own as the doctors didn't do the testing right. "Homeopathy" only works w/ somethings and sometimes only works adjacent to other natural treatments, like diet change, massage, acupuncture etc.....it's supposed to compliment what good things you are doing, it's not always a majic pill so to say, real health takes real work. For digestion issues, please research the "castor oil packs" applied to the stomache for a hour every day can have a fantastic affect on digestion problems, I swear by them.
