If you do research you will find that the preponderance of information favors coconut oil. CO can change the ratios of HDL and LDL It doesn't lower LDL but it does raise HDL and since it is the ratio that is important. CO is considered a healthy fat for reducing cardiovascular disease.
I would be careful giving children high doses of vitamin D because D in excess can be harmful. Children tend to get D from the best source available anyway . . . the sun! If in doubt, have the 25 hydroxy test. One's range should be between 50 - 80.
