ALZ and Lattice dystrophy answer Metformin

In 1984 I was diagnosed with cornea lattice dystrophy. Which is amyloid growths in the cornea. Eventually they block your vision or cause other issues and the treatment is a cornea transplant. I had my first on my right eye in 1985 and the first on my left in 1987. The problem is the amyloid grows back into the new tissue over time and you have to repeat the transplant. Usually a transplant only lasts me 10 years. In 2007 I was diagnosed as a type II diabetic (late onset) and was given a prescription for Metformin. I had just had my right transplanted for a third time in 2005. In 2010 I had my left cornea transplanted. Recently my opthamoligist and I were discussing how much growth of lattice in each eye. She estimated 10% in my right and none in my left. Based on articles about Metformin and how it may be a preventative for ALZ we surmised that Metformin is preventing the amyloids from forming in my cornea. Both ALZ and lattice amyloids are similar. Both my parents had ALZ hopefully the Metformin would prevet it if I have it.
