Question Could I have Alzheimer's at 31

In 1994 I began forgetting almost everything. I have forgotten the birth wieght and length of my three children. I can not remember day to day things. I am always losing something and forgetting everything. I feel like I am losing my mind half the time. I know that I have ADD and it seems sever. Could that mimick Alzheimer's? What test can I take now to find out if I could have it or if I am getting it?

It is very very rare for someone under the age of 60 to get alzheimers. 95% of cases happen after age 60. The things you're forgeting are things that alot of people forget (I can't remember my kids birthweight either ).

Everyone forgets things, our days are filled with mindless activites. Being forgetful is part of Alzheimers. BUT- usually alzheimers patients forget different things, such as, They may forget what a comb is used for, they may forget that a stove is hot. Another example is, you may forget where you put your keys, a person with alzheimers would forget what a key IS or forget what you use a key for.

Misplacing things, being distracted while doing thing, forgetting things you used to know is all a common sign of aging.

You mentioned you have ADD. My son is mildy autistic, and has ADD too. His memory was horrible for being 5 and he reminds me alot of my grandfather who has alzheimers. My son is also very aggressive. I've talked to researchers that try to help people with ADD and autism and alot of these people are lacking vitamin B. Try taking 100 mg. of b complex vitamins. Everyone needs it for brain function and since you where born with add it could be because your lacking it in you body. It helps my son.

Sometimes people are depressed and don't realize it, that can be one of the reasons you are forgetful; also stress can cause loss of memory. You could try some kind of relaxation or meditation, which can help a lot.
Hope this helps, God Bless.

Hello Billiegail,
Not sure if this would be helpful but I've had problems with my memory also. It turned out that I have encepilitis sp? and lyme disease.
Have you been exposed to ticks or live in a tick infected area?
I was dx with FMS and CFS and brain injury before finding this out.
