This isn't really funny, at least not from Mom's point of view. But I nearly burst out laughing when I finally "heard" myself and could get enough control to just shut-up. Then I began to notice every conversation with Mom and they are all very similar to this one. As much as she is repeating........so am I. She doesn't have control of hers....but surely, I should. But, oh, it's such an easy trap to fall in to.

You know, that baseball thingie......."Who's on first...." I can't even remember who started it? But I felt like the 3 stooges by the time I really heard myself!

Upon Waking yesterday morning

Mom: "You know,I felt dizzy when I woke up. Maybe you should take me to the doctor. I wonder whats wrong."

Me: "We were at the hospital, Mom. A couple weeks ago. It's a problem with your inner ear."

Mom: "Well, can't they do something for it?"

Me: "Yes, they gave you pills. It's that little white pill that you take."

Mom: "Oh. Well, when I woke up, I was dizzy and had to wait to get out of bed. Maybe you should take me to a doctor."

Me: "We did, Mom. It's your inner ear."

Mom: "Oh. Is there anything they can do for it?"

Me: "You take pills for it."

Mom: "Oh. It feels awful. The room just spins till I sit on the bed awhile. Wonder if you should take me to the doctor."

Me: "I did, Mom." (The frustration is mounting now..........)

Me: Feeling like an idiot!!!!!!!I almost laughed out loud when I finally heard all my own repeating.

Me: "Sure, I'll make an appointment, Mom."

Mom: "Okay. Is it time for Bob Barker?"

If all else fails............change the subject! How could I forget. Maybe because I was stuck on first base.
