How distinguish one from the other?

I need to understand. I read 7 stages and still confuse. Can dementia be a mental illness without alzheimer been present?

Is dementia present in other mental illness or is it an illness of its own?

Never more confused.

Try to read between words guys, am not 'all there' and not all the time so using what i have today to ask. Starting here parents-kids find 'absence' or 'werid' things funny but when i do realise last tin on my mind is smile.

How to know if its early-mild dementia, aslzeithermer or something else?

Keep simple in your answer please.

Thank you

Re: How distinguish one from the other?

Welcome to this helpful group. They have helped me a lot as I took care of my mother.

There are many kinds of dementia. Alzheimer's is one of them.

They all have pretty much the same kind of symptoms, and get worse very slowly. Keep in close contact with your doctor and follow his advice. Good luck to you!

Martha

Martha thank you. I post mental .... but better here I think.

How make understand family member need help?

Tired and ill, I try make undersant to family need of care but none pay attention to strange-wierd-gasp-locution n many more changes.

All pass with 'jokes' or 'its age' or 'make fun at' and if insits put down and worse are the threats (if keep going - asking help- or only bring topic on).
Cant imagine result if am not wrong and need help mental..... break and lose family?????

Subject is consider 'UNWELKOME' and 'IGNORE' by all family.

How to make them undertsand not be sacred and ignorance dont makethings go away or better?

I am not young and kids are marred and live far.

Am feeling very alone and deperssed

Feelingnullity,

About the only way that you might show them, is to show them this posting on this alzheimers board. Or to type them a word like: drink = I need water, or up = help me up.

Might work.

Wannabe

Re: How distinguish one from the other?

Welcome...

I guess my first question would be have you been to your family doctor and been checked out to see what the problems are? That really needs to be your first step. Do you have someone that you are comfortable taking along with you to help you with the questions and answers? Two heads are always better than one..even with folks who have no issues! It doesn't have to be a family member.

try contacting the local AZ. chapter and see if they can offer some help or information for you. YOu don't mention where you live so it's difficult to say who can help you. There are agencies that can offer help.

I know how difficult this is for you. IT is also very scary for your children as they don't want to accept that there might be something actually wrong! I know how hard it was to accept it with both of my parents.

Good luck and keep your spirits up. We're always here..
