| Re: Minocycline and AD
Minocycline does prevent brain cell death even when no infection is present, by combating the inflammation that accompanies AD, and which seems to be continuing in my brain despite IV antibiotic treatment, which, in theory should have destroyed the infection. The problem is that many people with underlying infections will develop symptoms which are indistinguishable from AD. How can anyone know if the cause is an infection, or a post infectious inflammation unless they are treated with a safe, broadspectrum antibiotic like minocycline, which has been proven to be effective against other inflammatory disorders like MS? Minocycline treatment should be tried for all cases of suspected AD, as it will do no harm, but can reverse the disease depending on the causitive agent.
