Husband has been diagnosed with Senile dementia (probable AD)
He goes through all kinds of jerking motions and strange facial movements
when resting......what is going on?
Sorry I can't help you, but maybe someone else on this Board will have had this same problem.
My Mom had senile dementia and never had any jerking movements. I wonder if your husband may also have some other disorder. Have you mentioned it to his doctor?
Yes, he does have other health issues. It has just gotten bad lately. I thought it might have something to do with the brain's inability to function properly. I have mentioned it to the dr. but she didn't have any ideas. I will mention to the neurologist when we next see him.
I've noticed slight jerky movements with my mom. She will just be sitting there and her arm will jerk, or her leg. I was told it was part of the dementia. MRI did not show any stroke, but she could be having TIA's and it just doesn't show up on the MRI.
She is in a nursing home at the present time. Best of luck in the care of your husband. After what I went through with my mom before she was placed, I can only imagine what you are dealing with as a wife. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Welcome to the board....
My husband had Pick's disease and also had the jerking movements. We would be sitting and watching TV and his arm would jerk. No other parts just his arm. I just figured it was part of his illness and didn't really worry about it because it didn't happen too often and it didn't really bother him. I'm so sorry that you are dealing with his horrible disease with your DH. Unfortunately, I know how hard that is. Keep coming back..
