My mother stopped processing food in April of 2007. She ate next to nothing, and according to the doctors, her body did not use any of the nutrients in it. She drank a little water, very little. We all expected her to pass away within days.
Mom died on Dec 29 2007. She was down to 75 pounds. She was 99 years old.
Seeing her waste away like that was the absolute horror. There was nothing they could do. Even if she had been fed by tube, nothing would have been digested. This was the final result of Alzheimer's ... even your body forgets how to work.
I was helped to get through that terrible time by the lovely people here on this Board who kept me sane.
