Leaving for a time - Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Message Board

Hello my friends, My husband and I are leaving for a week or more. Mom is doing well at the moment and its my turn to get some down time. My sisters have had their turn. Yeah!!!!!
We'll be going to our little lake house and later in the week close it up for the winter. Thats always a sad time for us. I'll be stuck here for the winter with no place to recharge. I feel this way every year.
I hope everyone has a good week. I'll miss you all.

I do hope you have a wonderful time Chris. You need the time to recharge and relax. Know your Sisters are doing their share, your Mom will be ok, and you will come back better than you left.

I do understand your feelings surrounding closing up the cabin. That is also on my agenda as soon as I return from my trip with Mom next weekend. Dad's dream was a cabin in the mountains and it has been a reality for about 25 years. It has fallen to me to take care of it. So far this year I have been able to go up to turn on the water and clean up, spent 24 hours with my daughter, and now close it up. But the grandchildren have enjoyed it. When I close it up I just look forward to March when it will be open again.

Again.... enjoy your time. My thoughts and prayers go with you that this weekend will be exactly what you need.

Have a great time. Winter comes, but spring is right behind it. Enjoy the now. My dream was always a cottage on the banks of a river. Now I rent an apartment on the banks of a river - the best of both worlds, and a short walk into town!

Chris, go and enjoy it lal for us. Take time for a walk or two and enjoy the weather while you do all the chores that go with the responsibilities of owning the "cabin in the woods." Lucky ducks that you are! Make sure that you take time to enjoy it admid the work! We will look forward to seeing you when you return all rested and smelling fresh and outdoorsy.

Have a wonderful week. You certainly deserve it. You will come back all refreshed and rested from the great outdoors.!! it's amazing how much a week away from it all can do for the mind and body!!
