Re: Help, my Mom is scaring us all!!

hello julie, i am just catching your post, and I so remember being in your shoes, if I would have posted way back when, it would almost be yours word for word. My dad was in big denial, and I did pussyfoot around him alot. I finally got my sister who lives 1800 miles away to come and play the heavy with the poa and the wills. It was her that got my dad motivated to get these things done, and then she flew away back home out of reach of any anger that my dad had. I then stepped in as planned and help my dad out with the lawyers and such. it worked like a dream and because I am the one that is the most involved and willing to be there, so use your sisters or brothers or anyone else then let them back off and you go in and cummeserate with your dad and then get things done that need to be done. worth a try to help your dad see that things need to be done. you go girl...

hugs judy

Re: Help, my Mom is scaring us all!!

Thank you Judy for your kind words and your offer of a solution. I don't post much on this board, as I think I pretty much conveyed the whole problem in my first post, but I really appreciate the responses I've received.

That being said, my sister and brother are both living with my parents as a temporary solution to some major set-backs. My brother is not assertive at all, but my sister has always had a way with my Dad!
As I stated in my post: my Dad is totally in denial, and he is also not assertive at all!!

I will ask one of them to intervene, but with their close proximity, I am not sure about any success.

Now my oldest brother has the most influence with my Dad as he really respects my brother. When he is better (he was recently hospitalized) I will ask him to talk to our Dad.
Somethings got to give!!

I had my Mom over a week or two ago to scrapbook, like we used to do, and she was fine! It comes and goes, as I am sure you are familiar with.

I am writing you a novelette so I will end here.

I hope this works, as it would be so much better if this was all in place before it progresses any further!!
