This board does not allow for the posting of links. Do a search of Alcohol related dementia. There is a lot of information on Alcohol related dementia and it is a different dementia from Alzheimer's. Yet they are so similar that it is difficult to determine between the two. There is also Drug Induced Dementia so you could do a search on that one as well. Again, the symptoms are very similar to Alzheimer's.
There is also mixed dementia. This can be caused by a combination of reasons including alcohol, drugs, Alzheimer's, Vascular deficiencies or any of the other dementia causes. I would take a good geriatric neurologist who specializes in dementia to give you a diagnosis that specific. In the long run, there are some minor differences between the different dementia, but for the most part what you deal with on a daily basis is the same.
