New BKA - timeline of next steps?
Unfortunately my dad had a BKA completed last night due to complications of gangrene from diabetes on his left leg. He just turned 69 last month and is pretty motivated (ie: I don't think he will experience any significant depression). Now I am wondering what happens next.
Expected time to stay in hospital?
How long until he can be fitted for a prosthetic?
How long until he can get most of his mobility (even with crutches)?
I know alot of these are subjective based on the patient, but I am looking for personal experience from others.
I am hoping he can be in a prosthetic by the new year and be mobile again by spring.
