My brother was diagnosed with ALS 2 years ago. He has had several different Dr's and his new one isn't convinced it is ALS but will not test for Lyme disease because his exposure to ticks was so long ago almost 20 years. I am looking for answers but don't know where to start. He is only 37 years old. He lives in Bath, Maine. Searching for answers does anyone know where I might find them. Or any Dr. in his area he is veteran and they are sending him to Togus (sp?)

I myself have ALS, after almost two years of having the symptoms, but only diagnosed on 02/01/08. I was told if it is Lyme Disease you would have a target ringed circle somewhere on the body. Good luck to you and your brother. God Bless...........

Hi Kssp, I have seen a couple of people on the Lyme Board that were diagnoised with ALS. It would most likely benefit you more if you posted on the lyme board for your questions to be answered. You most diffently need to get to a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor. (specialist). I would ask for the nearest one to you. There aren't many of them so you may have to travel. But it would be worth your life.

Many people like myself do not get the bulls eye rash. Doctors that do not understand this disease do not understand the clinical symptoms of lyme. You can have a negative test, such as myself, and yes still have lyme. You can have the bacteria and 20 years later it can come out of remission and cause problems.

This disease is nothing to take lightly.
