| Re: what is last stage of als
I am sorry to hear about your uncle. My brother had ALS in the upper half of his body. He was able to walk. He was diagnosed in February 2003 and died in October 2003. He had a feeding tube inserted in February. He could not swallow his own saliva. His arms hung at his side and wasted away to nothing. One thing you must remember is that ALS does not affect their eyes nor their ability to feel or think. Although Scott was unable to talk he spoke through his eyes. Never talk around your uncle in the third party. He can hear you. Love him and visit him as much as possible. I never knew anyone who had ALS nor had I heard much about it. I watched his body deteriorate and there was nothing I could do for him. I have so much knowledge in my head that will never go away. Feel free to talk and ask questions. Does you uncle have muscle wasting from the waist up or waist down? Can he walk?
