I have been posting on a different board for myself, but know it is for my brother. He was taken to hospital this morning with very little strenght in his legs. After a number of tests he was sent on to a bigger hospital for further testing. The DRs suspect ALS. I know what the outcome is for this disease. It is so difficult to think what is ahead for him if this is his diagnosis. for now I will just keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks for letting me ramble a bit

Thank you for your response. I had a restlessness night worrying about him. They Drs have said they will continue testing on Mon. Hopefully more answers are forthcoming.
I will post more as I get information

Did his loss of strenght come on suddenly? In both legs? Did they rule out MS? I didn't think ALS came on suddenly. I would be gradual with tripping, foot drop, etc... Hyper reflexes are also a symptom. I'm glad he will be getting more test on Monday. Try not to worry. I know that is extremely hard.
I saw my brother today. He is still experiencing leg weekness and arm weekness. His voice isn't much than a whisper. They are going to do an emg, and mri and a muscle biopsy. His appetite is good. The only thing they have ruled out is GBS. They are still thinking ALS. We have our fingers crossed, but now it's just a waiting game.

I'm very happy for your brother. ALS is a very difficult disease. I know the other possibilities are scary. Just keep faith that the doctors will find out what he is dealing with so your family can move forward. Thank you for the update. Good Luck to you.
