Newbies Don't Despair..
I have read that sometimes people do not get responses very fast, but gets lots of "looks/views".
If you are new to here, like I am, and are writing because you are reaching out and are scared or worried or just need to vent.. that is what this is for.. but sometimes people do not know how to respond or are overwhelmed. My husband died from ALS 4 years ago. He lived with the disease for 5 years.. and when I first suspected (way before the doctors) that ALS is what he had.. I would creep on these boards, secretly.. making sure he never saw me.. to just try and calm myself. I was full of determination and hope and god-awful feelings as well.. sick to the pit of my stomach. I was looking for support and help and a confirmation that I was wrong.
So if you have posted on here and no one gives you a response.. it is just that sometimes people do not know what to say... and "do no harm" comes to mind. People here, just like my neighbors and some family members in the real world remain often silent because they are simply at a loss or do not feel qualified to answer.. and unfortunately it is when you feel vulnerable and need comfort the most.
Sometimes.. it is people like I was 10 years ago.. looking for answers to my questions, sitting alone in the dark in agony and crying. I never posted then.. I only read and then vowed not to look again.
No one has the answer to ALS.. but there is hope on the horizon. In the meantime.. we can support each other.. pray for each other and know that we are not alone in our fight for ourselves or our loved ones.
