Do you think I have ALS?

Hi,

I am a 24 year old female, and I am waiting to see a specialist for problems I have had for a while now.

I have had muscle twitching in my left thigh for about a year, although it has become a bit less frequent. I thought nothing of it until recently reading about what could be the cause of other symptoms I have been having.

About 4 months ago, I became aware of a sharp pain in my left calf muscle. This did not subside, so I went to the doctor, where they ruled out a blood clot. Over the next weeks, I began to have frequent pains in my left thigh, as well as occasional pains in my right leg. I noticed that pretty much all of the time, the left side of my buttocks has an achey feeling, sort of numb, but not really, and I also have the same feeling much of the time in my left foot.

At the start of May, my GP referred me to see a hospital doctor, since she had no idea what was going on, and this appointment will be in about 10 days.

In the last few weeks, though, I have noticed that there is an obvious dent in my left thigh muscle, and this portion of thigh has become more achey. I have also tripped a couple of times where I shouldn't have. For instance, today, I was stepping over a length of chain about a foot off the ground, and though I saw the height of it, I tripped over it pretty spectacularly.

Do these symptoms sound like they could be caused by ALS? Does the dent in my thigh seem like atrophy caused by ALS? It is certainly not a 'normal' dent caused by toned muscles, as I am not that toned.

I really appreciated any and all responses, as I am kind of freaked out right now, and my appointment is not for a while. Thanks for reading!
