Hello, I'm the new kid on the block - Anemia Message Board

Hello, like I said, I'm new here. I have a question but first I'll give a little background info.
10 years ago I found out I was anemic, in fact after 8 months of test I was told I have a very rare form of anemia (I can't even attempt to spell or pronounce it) and probably had it all my life. It's untreatable, as of 2 years ago. I've had 2 bone marrow test and both showed my bone marrow was full of iron (or whatever it's called) but for some reason it can't get into my bloodstream.
Now to my question, I've had leg and arm aches for as long as I can remember, mostly the legs. (Here's the question) Can this be related? Lately my legs have been driving me crazy with pain. I've gone through 2 bottles of Tylenol in less than 3 weeks and am still suffering a lot. The pain wakes me up in the middle of the night causing more loss of sleep. I have 3 kids and a busy life!

Well, if you ache alot, I think maybe the dr should also run tests for arthritis. It maybe that your anemia is a secondary illness to another disease. I was tested for rheumatoid arthritis and the test was positive. So he ran a few more tests, which was a Lupus panel that also was positive. I also have to say that my first two drs thought I was a hypochondriac and told me only the iron was low and that was normal for women to have low iron. Well, I am glad I seeked a third dr who finally put a name to why I was chronically anemic. In my case, it was a flag warning of another ilness.

I know I was rambling a bit, but I hope you do get tested for arthritis to at least rule that out.
