The numbers you mention are so incredibly close to normal, those are not really looked at for anemia UNLESS other blood tests in the panel were off. I think it is the MCV that is indicative of iron deficiency. If that number is say around 70, and your H&H is a little off, they would investigate for Iron Deficiency Anemia...doing that, they would look at your Ferritin level to see if you have Iron Deficiency.
But, with a number of 11.6 or 11.8, I doubt your MD would treat you for anemia. My Hemo usually doesn't treat until it drops in to the 10's. |
