Anemia + Hypothyroidism - Anemia Message Board

I have both iron deficiency anemia and hypothyroidism . I have symptoms from both, the worse being fatigue and lightheadedness. I’m taking Synthroid for the hypoT and an iron supplement for the anemia. Anybody else have this combination? If so, did you find anything that helps? Thanks.

hi,
i am anemic and also have hypothyroidism. hypothyroidism can usually be eaily controlled with a tablet a day. in my case its the anemia that really bothers me a lot. i have always been anemic. am continously on iron tablets - tried quite a few, but my levels continue to stay between 9-10. the important thing is that the symptoms of thyro shouldnt be confused with anemia. i feel extremely tired and weak, sleep abt 12+ hrs a day, and am depressed too. initially i thot these were symptoms of my thyroid but the test results came out normal. it turns out my heamoglobin is down to 9.5. nothing really helps me though. would love to hear any advice on the subject.
