EPO Injection shots

Ya well guys my dad did have low blood but the Doctors have to give him EPO Injection shots, hes tired and cold alot ..it has something to do with his kidney but i hope these work..anyone know what the purpose of this shot is?

This shot will jump start the production of red cells in the bone marrow. It is sort of like using one car to start another. If the shot works, he will make new blood cells, if not the first time, then they will keep giving them to him for a while until he can do this on his own.

I was reading about this i guess the kidneys dont make a hormone called erythropoietin it controls the production of red blood cells it also converts vitamin D from an inactive form to an active form.Did your Dad have any problems with his parathyroid also.
