Do iron levels lower after a period?

Say if I were to have blood drawn before my period starts, would my iron levels be higher than what they would be if I had blood drawn right after or during my period?

Just wondering.

Re: Do iron levels lower after a period?

Well,I know that if your period is really heavy for one cycle your HCT can drop if they draw it right after it ends. I had a heavy one in Nov. and mine dropped 3 points! My hematologist also told me that you can deplete your iron stores over time if they are too heavy.
