I am told that doctors like to see it between 70-90 for women. I don't know if there is a true "best" rate. There are people that walk around with it a 50 and feel perfectly fine, so who knows.

The normal range on a lab value, however, says that you can be above "10" and be normal. I really think that needs to be reevaluated.

I have this same question as many others here. I recently went to my Hematologist that said, He doesn't care what the ferritin is as long as it is above 10 and less than 1000. That doesn't mean that you won't feel ill at the lower range because I think this is a common symptom of a lower range ferritin. I think that each person has there own ~normal range~, and that is different for everyone. FLFLOWERGIRL
