chronic anaemia

is iron transfusions painful and how is it administered

It is iron INFUSION and a different reaction for everyone. It is administered through IV by a nurse at the Hematologist.

You can use the search box at the top of this page and search ~IV Iron Infusion~ and read posts by people that have actually had this form of iron replacement therapy. FLFLOWERGIRL

Hi,
Ive had many iron infusions. Though its not painful. Its given as flfower girl says IV (intra venous), basically they attach you to a drip.
I notice your in the uk, so it would be my guess you get either venofer or cosmofer.
The procedure as i say isnt painful, but you may experiance some side effects afterwards (although not everyone does), I always feel a bit off colour for a few days following.
