Re: what can i do to stop my heavy bleeding caused by irregular periods today?
There isn't anything that can be taken to stop a heavy period instantly. Have you ever found out why you get heavy periods? If not, i think you should. A lot of doctors will simply say 'go on the pill', but it's always a good idea to find out why a particular thing is happening, rather than apply a bandaid solution.
My periods have been messed up for going on 7 years. It's only in the last 3 that i have had relief using herbal liquid supplied by a naturopath. My previous gp kept telling me to go on the pill and no other doctors could find a reason. I've only just had it confirmed that i have a thyroid condition and this can mess up the hormones and cause heavy periods/irregular periods.
A number of other things can cause heavy periods too, so it's all the more reason to start investigating why this is happening to you. If you also have low iron it is even more important to find out why. Some people on this board have mentioned that their periods became lighter after their ferretin rose.
