| White lines in fingernails = anemia?
For weeks now I've been feeling really ill. I've been suffering from headaches every day, am feeling really tired all the time and my body really aches all the time, especially my joints and my back. My legs feel really heavy and weak, too and they hurt a heck of a lot when I've been walking on them.
A couple of days ago I noticed that I'd developed white lines on my fingernails. They aren't thin, but quite thick (probably a couple mm) and go right across the nail. They're at the top of my nail, right below the whitish part of the nail. Usually, the area where the white lines have developed is a healthy pink in colour.
I've had periods of tiredness and general ill-health (with no diagnosis as they can't find out what's wrong with me) for about six years but this is the first time I've ever felt this bad. I'm eating all the right stuff; I have cereal with fruit every morning, a portion of vegetables with my dinner, eat lots of fish etc etc. I get 8 hours sleep a night (sometimes I sleep for 10) and I regularly walk, although this hurts my legs.
It's also the first time I've ever noticed these white lines on my fingernails and it seems like a bit of a coincidence that these should show up now when I'm feeling really ill. I started taking multi-vitamins today so I'm hoping these will make me feel better soon, and I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow, too. But any light on the situation from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
