Two questions concerning B-12 injections - Anemia Message Board

I have two questions about B-12 injections:

1. Will excessive stress cause your monthly injection to deplete faster?

2. Will these injections cause you to lose weight?

The reason I am asking is because my injection seemed to run out a week before the next one was due. I have been under lots of stress for the past month or so. I have also lost about 8 pounds for no apparent reason (other than the stress).

hi tlhalabama....I get B12 monthly....I know that b12 speeds up the metabolism so I've heard that some people actually use it to lose weight....so yes I would say you could lose weight from the shots.I am very thin and have lost weight too,but I'm not a big eatter to begin with.

You might want to let your dr. know your symptoms seem to start up a week before your next shot is due.Does your dr. check your B12 level to see if your absorbing it?How long have you been getting the shots?

Hey Scout.

Yeah, my doctor checks my levels every 3 months. I just had my levels checked last month and they were up from 294 to 325. She doubled my doage for the next 3 months to see how that goes.

I went yesterday for my 5th injection. I am feeling a whloe lot better, but this month, it seems the injection didn't last the whole month.

I have been under alot of stress lately, so that may explain some of my problems.

I am like you a small person, but I am a very big eater. I guess just feeling better is making me even more active.
