Although black strap molasses is high in iron, I am not sure that it is enough alone to bring your levels up to where they need to be. It is always a good idea to add iron rich foods, but it's hard using diet alone as a way of raising levels.
As far as your hair goes, when my serum iron was really low my hair was shedding a lot. By the time my ferritin hit 20 it slowed way down, and my serum iron was much higher by then. This is also different for each person. I think that the hair is mostly related to low iron, but that is just my opinion from my own personal experience. Best of luck to you. FLFG
