After IV iron infusion

Monday I had a Iron transfusion it was my first one.I was there for 4 hours and had no allergic reactions I felt fine.I went home & took a nap when I woke up I felt very tired and my body was achy. Its been two days and I thought Id be feeling great but I still feel tired and achy & worse then before I went.Has anybody else had this reaction?Does it take a while to work?Any input would be helpful thanks.

Re: After IV iron infusion

I've had 4, 2 in the hospital and 2 at the hematology clinic. I also still feel very lethargic and my blood work doesn't show any improvement. They told me it would be several weeks before I started feeling better and I'm hoping it will help.

Did they find the reason for your iron deficiency? My blood vessels are bleeding and there is no fix other than weekly infusions... forever!

I hope you start feeling better soon.

Thanks for the reply. They havent told me the exact reason but they think between my menstration being so heavy and I dont eat red meat that my body just isnt holding the iron. And for awhile I was seeing a Dr who told me my anemia wasnt a problem by the time I got a new Dr they said I had no choice but the transfusion my levels were very low.
