Question Hearing heart beating in my ears

When I go to the bathroom can hear heartbeating in my ears and also when laying down at night. Also feel a bit tired.

Can this be from low iron?

Lost 3 pints of blood end of July this year was transfused 2 pints. Took iron for a month but stopped in fear of getting too much iron, although doc said it can take up to 3 months.

Re: Hearing heart beating in my ears

I have a similar problem. I hear a whoosh in my right ear often. I am amenic but not to the point to take iron. I know its bothersome and hope you get some relief. Best wishes

Re: Hearing heart beating in my ears

I have the same exact thing happen. I actually went to an ENT and he told me that it could be several things. The iron being one of them and that I need to get the iron corrected and see if it goes away. Mine usually happens when I'm laying down or bending over, I also get a pressury feeling in my head like my brain can't breath or isn't getting the oxygen it needs and it throbs for a few seconds. I am praying it's just the iron.

Really? I thought it was just pulsatile tinnitus :c. I'm also anemic ( iron-deficiency ) Wait..if the sound goes away, does that mean you've had enough iron?
I'm confused....I heard the whooshing sound in my right ear a month ago for two days at night only. I haven't heard it for a while. I thought it had something to do with my ear or blood vessels. Reading things online have made me more anxious. -.- If it is just anemia, then I feel a bit relieved.

Re: Hearing heart beating in my ears

Update iron was low at 36. Restarting the 180 mgs of iron a day. I knew something was wrong.

When you have hypothyroidism, it is hard to tell if your anemic or hypothyroid.

The iron did suppress my thyroid hormones the last time, but was taking 3 65mgs of iron 3 times a day.

Hopefully taking it once a day in the evening with vitamin C and taking my thyoid med in the morning, the iron will not suppress my thyroid function.

Hello,
Tell me are you daily smoker. If it yes then it is casual and if it not then you must be suffering from some disease. Consult with your doctor...

Re: Hearing heart beating in my ears

I'm anemic and I have the exact same thing. It used to be worse. I could hear my pulse throbbing in my right ear when I moved suddenly, stood up or sat down, etc. I could also feel my pulse and blood pressure in other weird places. I think it is from anemia.

Re: Hearing heart beating in my ears

Yes I agree wheresthebeef, seems like it is worse after doing something physical. Seems better today so far, maybe the iron is working finally.
