Iron Level 50??

I just had my third baby boy almost 4 months ago!!! I feel out of it.... Fatigued, weak, headaches, etc!! I took a blood test last week and it stated I was Vitamin D deficient (level 16)!! When I reviewed my results, my iron level states 50 uh/dl (25-156 ug/dl)!!! The dr didn't say anything about this!! Should I be concerned or get a second opinion!!!

Re: Iron Level 50??

You should be concerned. A low level of vitamin D like that needs to be treated usually with a huge dose of around 50,000 ui once a week over a time period of up to a month.

As far as the iron goes I would guess your ferritin is probably low considering it's one of the first things to go with anemia, which is not good and can cause horrible symptoms. Your Dr. should be concerned and if he's not I would say definitely yes, second opinion time.
