Nobody wants to listen to someone who's yelling. It gets to a point where what they are saying means nothing as all defenses and self respect go up when someone is flipping out on us. Some people grow up in families where people were screaming to get their points across and they think it's ok. Let him know that you won't participate in his yell fests and that he is hurting your feelings when he's yelling at you. I will typically get up and leave when someone is screaming at me for no reason. I tell them that their behavior is unnacceptable and if they want to talk with me in a respectful way they can then talk with me. Until then there is nothing else to say.
