Angina Symptoms - Atypical?

Please help

I had a heart bypass operation in December 2008 - after 1 month I started to develop the following symptoms:-

1. Pins and needles in my left arm/hand.
2. Jaw ache just below the ear mainly left side
3. Burning sensation in upper arms ( this can get quite severe at times)
4. Sweating
5. Nausea

The symptoms get progressively worse as the day wears on.

The doctor does not think this is angina however my previous experiences would make me think otherwise.

I am on a number of heart drugs at the moment the doctor thinks it maybe a side effect of one or more of the drugs.

What do you think - this whole thing is now driving me crazy as I don't what is happening to me.

Has anybody else had this sort of problem?

Re: Angina Symptoms - Atypical?

Cutter,

Your pains sound identical to mine minus the pins and needles and I know mine was angina. My chest and shoulders burned. My lower jaw burned and I would get beads of sweat on my forehead. I can understand why you would be concerned. I'm thinking like you...Good luck...Do you have nitro and can it be relieved with it?

Treze

Thanks for the message - yes I do have a nitro spray which does nothing to the releive the symptoms which are continuous throughout the day/night even at rest. I only hope I can convince the doctors to take my symptoms seriously!

Re: Angina Symptoms - Atypical?

I wonder if they could have irritated one, or more nerve paths, during the heart bypass surgery?

Re: Angina Symptoms - Atypical?

I don't know if nerve irritation is common with bypass surgery.

Acupuncture is one of my hobbies, so to speak. I've got my own Acupuncture Stimulator and Acupuncture Software, and experiment with it to try and relieve my own pain and health problems. Sometimes it helps , sometimes it doesn't .

Your history of chest surgery and the pain in your left arm/hand, Jaw and upper arms, combined with the other problems of Sweating and Nausea correspond to Acupuncture nerve pathways (channels), so I figured that I would write a post wondering if the surgery could have irritated some nerves or nerve pathways?

I have no medical or Acupuncture training or education, so my comments are merely to give you something to think about.

Perhaps others, who have had the same surgery, and the same post-surgery symptoms can offer their opinions.

Regards...... best of luck in solving your pain problems!
