Angina or indigestion? meaning of ST depression?

Hi, Im 43 and recently went for a treadmill test as i experience throat tightening upon excertion. the result showed significant changes in my st depression and im due to go for an angiogram in december. the cardiologist has put me on tablets and aspirin and given me a spray to relieve symptoms. my gp tells me i am at risk of heart attack. could they have this wrong? i am diet controlled diabetic, mum had angina and died at 69 when arteries were so blocked around heart and her lungs filled with fluid; dad has mild angina. i am currently suffering with indigestion but i do actually burp with it so does this mean its not connected....any advise would be appreciated.

Re: Angina or indigestion? meaning of ST depression?

thankyou for reply. im on thyroxin and bp tablets. when first diagnosed with underactive thyroid gland a locum gp put me on too high a dose of thyroxin which resulted in my admittance to hospital with symptoms of heart attack, that was 4 yrs ago and ive had intermittent pain on left side of chest when i excercise since then. i get throat tightening when i walk fast or go upstairs too quickly. my latest symptom is this constant indigestion feeling which when i burp clears the heaviness but it returns on and off throughout the day. i woke up with it this morning. i wondered if anyone could interpret the treadmill test result of significant changes to st depression after 6 minutes on the bruce protocol? would appreciate some help as i still keep telling myself they must have it wrong.

You keep saying 'i still keep telling myself they must have it wrong.' With your family history being so significant I wouldn't think twice about you having the same genetic makeup as your parents and would take all of this quite serious and do all you can to avoid the fate of you parents. Good luck.

Re: Angina or indigestion? meaning of ST depression?

thankyou Machaon, would you say significant blockage would require stent or just diet change with tablet perhaps? i dont like to return to gp with questions in fear of time wasting. indigestion is so frequent im not sure if i should carry on with it or return to gp. would it be ok to put up with it until dec 1st when angiogram appt is scheduled for. i do have a spray to put under tongue but it gives such a bad headcahe i tend to hold off using it.
