Benzo's and non benzos - Anxiety Message Board

Hey all. I have general anxiety/OCD and Bipolar. Actually my psychatrist is still trying to work out my anxiety problems its not really by the book so to speak, kinda like a mix between GAD and OCD i cant really describe it, another psychatrist i saw said it was severe ocd but i dont know. I dont respond to antidepressants and cant take them because of my bipolar anyway. And i cant take benzo's because i have just overcome an addiction to them. so what am i left with? Ive tried antipsychotics but they dont really help much. Anyone had any expereince with any drugs that work well for anxiety ? i guess even in the antipsychotic field? Im running out of options and im feeling worse day by day, i cant take this anxiety.

beta blockers and the older sedating antihistamines could be tried
Ive known a couple of people who had moodswings and panic attacks and phobias with some OCD

Ive tried beta blockers, well inderal with no luck as even though it stops my physical symptoms my mind is still in overdrive.

Ill have to research about the older histamines then, thanks for the reply.

Have you tried Topamax? I don't take it for your problem but I read that it is used for OCD as ab off-label use. Might be something to look into to.
