Question 5-HTP and St. Johns Wort can they be helpful together?

I just bought 5-HTP and St. Johns Wort and I was wondering if they could be mixed together?

Also any body in here had any positive experience with the use of 5-HTP and/or St. John Wort?

Thank You!

I've never tried 5-HTP before.. but I did try St. Johns Wort. I took it for a few weeks.. Just a couple pills a day because they were 500 mg. I don't know if it helped or not...but I did feel better progressively over the weeks. I also took a multivitamin though and changed my diet a little.

Re: 5-HTP and St. Johns Wort can they be helpful together?

I have only recently stopped taking St Johns Wort, having taken it for many years - yes I found it did have a good effect, my overall mood did improve. I used to take it because I suffer badly with mood swings - pms etc I've stopped it now because after suffering for a few years I now realise it's anxiety so I dont want the st johns to clash with the meds (propranolol) i'm not sure if they would clash but thought it better not to mix.

I wouldn't rule out taking st johns in the future but for now the meds seem to be working 4 me.
