Increasing Lexapro dosage?

I've been on 10 mg/day of Lexapro for approximately 2 months...it's helped my social and general anxiety a lot but I still have a few anxiety attacks occasionally. Has anyone noticed a difference when increasing their Lexapro dosage from 10 to 20 mg/day? Thanks!

I'm in the same situation and I'm interested in the responses. I've been taking Lexapro for 10 weeks and from what I've read full effects should show up after 6 weeks. Can I get better results by jumping up to 20 mg?

the usual dose range is 10 to 20
I would split the tablet and try 15 for a while then maybe go to 20

I know it sounds like a stupid question but is taking two 10mg pills the same as one 20mg pill? I mean if a doctor increased my dosage to 20mg and I had a bunch of 10mg pills left over will a doctor generally be ok with doubling up on the old pills 10mg pills before I started on the new one 20mg?

to bill
yes 2 tens taken together does equal one twenty

also any tablet that has a line on it can be cut in halves with half only taken, some tablets have a cross, making it easy to cut them into quarters

it helps to get the dose you want this way with meds, controlled release tabs lose their slow release feature if cut but ai assume they still work

a pill cutter may make it easier and these cost a few dollars from a pharmacist

Re: Increasing Lexapro dosage?

I have been taking Lexapro for about 1 year. Already been through everything else, and they recently upped me from 10-20. I had some 10's left and finished those before I refilled the others and yes, to me, it's the same. But I believe there to be a world of difference in the upped dosage. I've pretty much been through the whole spectrum of anti-depressants in the last 20 years, only being able to take them 2 years max then they stop working. In my opinion effexor was the very best...was on it for about 3 years until I reached the max dose and had to stop.

Re: Increasing Lexapro dosage?

I just jumped up to 20 mg (from 10mg) myself yesterday. I've noticed some fatigue which I'm not unhappy about since everyone tells me this is a side effect of Lexapro during the begining. I did not notice it when I first started taking 10mg 12 weeks ago so maybe this means the medication is starting to work for me. My head does fell a bit clearer too. Lets see what happens.

Re: Increasing Lexapro dosage?

I recently went from 10mg lexapro each morning to 2 doses of 10 each with second dose late afternoon. In one week I noticed that I am feeling much better! I also take valium(5mg) about 3-5 times a week depending on anxiety level.I am also on Nerontin twice daily which my Psych prefers over benzo's.Do you think I am safe with the valium? I once took klonopin but Doc said it was too addictive unless used infrequently. It sure does work though.Best to all-my first post.By the way,I am a 56 year old male ina very stressful sales position.

Doc(Psych) moved me from 10mg in the morning to 2 doses a day with the second being late afternoon.Major difference! I also take 5mg's valium 3-5 days a week as needed. Doc prefers neurontin as my "daily" med which I take 2 times per day.Am I okay with valium as described? Best to all-I am new here-56 year old male in VERY stressful sales job.
