Anxiety and Sleep

Anyone else sleep really bad becuase of anxiety? I only got like three hours of sleep last night. I go to sleep alright but usually wake after 3-6 hours and cant go back to sleep. The second I wake up my mind starts working and I cant shut it off. I can never go back to sleep. I think I might start taking tylenol PM if I wake up too early again. Jeeze there isnt a worst feeling to me than not getting enough sleep. Also I started lexapro this week and I think that has been keeping me wired all the time.

Re: Anxiety and Sleep

I hardly ever sleep. I'll go through phases where I don't sleep at all for about 2 days and then I'll finally give in and take a Xanax. I may fall asleep but then an hour or two later, just like you, I'm awake again. Thinking about everything and nothing.
I have no idea how to stop that. The only thing that has helped me is the Xanax. I've tried yoga, exercising, meditation.....
If any one has any suggestions on being able to fall asleep and stay asleep, I'd love to hear them.

Re: Anxiety and Sleep

Yeah, more recently, it's affected my sleep patterns. Sometimes it takes me a couple of hours to fall asleep.. and then sometimes I can fall asleep within a half hour or so but am awake 2 hours later and can't get back to sleep for another hour. It's a pain in the ***.. Tylenol PM and Execedrin both make me feel weird though..they do make me drowsy, but they also make my limbs feel jittery. I hate it when I don't get enough sleep.. My anxiety disorder makes me feel kinda spacey and disconnected already, and not getting enough sleep makes me feel like a zombie. One can't function like that..

Re: Anxiety and Sleep

When I actually do manage to fall asleep, I usually wake up really early and can't get back to sleep because of anxious thoughts. And that really doesn't help my 24/7 spaciness.
