Question Anyone ever try Effexor?

I was prescribed Effexor today and I am going to start taking it tommorrow. Has anyone ever taken this before? What are some side effects you have had?

Any other info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Anyone ever try Effexor?

I have been on and off Effexor for the past 3 years because of GAD and OCD. It has helped me a lot. It is different for everyone mind you, but it has helped lots of people. You may experience some minor side effects at first, but stick with it, it's well worth it. Mind you, be sure that you really need anti-depressants... far too many people take them that don't need them. Are you EXTREMELY anxious and/or depressed? Only then should you consider anti-depressants. Good luck! Let us know how you feel.

Re: Anyone ever try Effexor?

it often helps a lot for anxiety, a low starting dose for say 2 weeks reduces any early side effects

the side effects. if any, usually stop when it starts working properly,in 2 to 6 weeks

Re: Anyone ever try Effexor?

I had headaches and some dizziness on Effexor.
It probably gave me the most side effects of any drug that I have ever taken.

But even though they were there and I could definitely feel them.
They were not serious for me and eventually they did go away.

Re: Anyone ever try Effexor?

Hi, I have just started taking effexor 4 days ago at 37.5mg. So far no side effects at all. Hopefully maybe this med will work for me. So far I havent had any luck finding anything that helps me yet.

I have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and minor depression for the past year or so. I kinda wanted to try to get through it without the meds but it has been hard lately so I went to the doctor for some help. He put me on this and it seems like it should help.

Again thanks to everyone for your help.

Re: Anyone ever try Effexor?

I am taking it and have no side effects other than not having the anxiety or panic attacks that were scaring me to death. I hope you have a good experience with this medication.
