I just passed out in my class! - Anxiety Message Board

Like I said in an earlier post, my doctor switched me from paxil to lexapro. I was feeling really panicky this morning, so I took .50 mg of xanax. Apparently it did NOT work, because during class, I started having a hard time breathing and my heart was beating really fast. The next thing I knew, I was on the floor.

Some people may say it's related to the anemia and what not, but I'm pretty sure it was a panic attack.

Maybe you need to up the dosage of the Xanax.
I take .75 mg for my panic attacks, and that number seems to work for me. If I take less, it does nothing, and if I take more, I fall asleep.

to twiz,

I dont know what caused it but passing out from anxiety is rare, make sure you dont breathe quickly and shallowly as this can make you pass out from hyperventilation

deep slow breathing is best for anxious people

for most, .5 of xanax is only a small dose

I went to my dr and she switched me back to paxil.. I'm so happy! I have passed out dozens of times because of panic attacks... my doctor said it is because the body just shuts itself down and it's almost like it resets itself. My doctor told me that I was on the "wimpy" dose of xanax.... as long as it works and isn't addictive, I don't care

I used to find that when I started feeling like that, if I didnt stand up and pace or something, then I would pass out. It can be hard in certain situations if youre trying to cover it up, but alternating b/t sitting and standing always helped me to keep off the floor, hehe.
