You said you have already been checked out and they haven't been able to determine a physical cause for your problem, then going to a pdoc couldn't hurt.
Besides, what you said about constantly being afraid sounds like it could be a psycological issue. My Dh would always worry about things that most people would consider trivial. On top of that he would have "panic attacks" without any sort of trigger. He was just constantly anxious.
