I have been struggling with anxiety for the past 4 years. Recently, my heart felt like it was skipping beats so I went to the doctor. I've had a 2-D echo, ECG, heart monitor, and everything came back fine. My doctor said it was just heart palpitations brought on by the anxiety. Does anyone else suffer from heart palpitations and if so, what do you do to deal with them. Over the past couple weeks they started to get unbearable. When I have them, I get lightheaded and short of breath. Please any advise?
i always have had problems with my heart and thought something was wrong, i was always EASILY OUT OF BREATh. i didnt know why.. i would just be heavily breathing from just sitting there sometimes.. i got checked up, heart monitor and all that stuff, came out fine.. so i thought nothing of it, well it was basicly my anxiety, im on lexapro now.. and it helps with anxiety, and i have noticed it help, i dont really feel out of breath like i used to and it doesnt skip beats or beat fast for no reason, are u on any medication?
Sounds like me a few years ago. My heart felt like it was actually "flip flopping" around. It got really scary! I had an EKG and the 24 hour monitor, and everything came back fine! It is definately anxiety for me...I hate it! Makes me wonder if that is the last heart beat I will ever feel!
I had them when I use to get panic attacks. Scary it is/ Ya think that it will not beat again. Later I found out that my grandmother was born with her heart skipping a beat. My mommas heart now skips a beat after she had emergency. She gets not exactly in the anxiety mode but she gets them from lound noised that make her jump. She had to have her heart shocked a couple of time ans remembers it.
It will go away. I know it's hard cause you are waiting for the next palp. Kinda like when you have had the hiccups for a long time and you keep trying things to get rid of them. The next couple of mintues can make you really anxious. Now that you have had all the test just keep that in mind so that you an keep telling yourself you are aye ok!
I also have PVCs. they come in spells and mostly when I am at rest. I have had them off and on for over "20" years had all the usual testing and all came back normal. Sometimes I wonder if its something I eat. I notice that if I drink a glass of red wine they go away. Just one glass though. They come on when I drink tea but not coffee. Very strange. Seems they have a mind of their own. I hate the feeling of helplessness when they come on.
I had heart palpitations and they really freaked me out. Everytime I would "remember that I had forgotten about them" they would come back. I ended up having a panic attack, going to the ER, getting the EKG and all checked out. They gave me Ativan to calm down and sleep which helped. I went to my doctor, got a physical, and he started me on Paxil CR. I slowly noticed that I was feeling better, then it came back, I upped the Paxil and after a couple of weeks, the palps went away. I feel better and better every day and intend on staying on the Paxil for awhile. It really helped me. I don't have any side effects except the odd period of blurry vision which is getting better over time. I read all about the effects of Paxil and Paxil CR but I have nothing but good things to say about it. Michele
Have had them for over 20 years. Been checked numerous times and everything came out normal. Went to cardioligist who said all was ok and that pvc's were quite common but most people are not aware of them. He said because I was so intune and sensitized with my body sensations I was unusually aware of them. I'm still alive so guess he may have been right. They are extremely uncomfortable though. There is so much that doctors don't know. {REMOVED} Hopefully in time there will be a breakthrough on a cure for panic disorder so we will not have to depend on medications. Patty

Yup, me too. Have these feelings like my heart is eather skipping a beat or flip flopping , as I put it to my Doc.
I just ignore it now and just deep breathe. I also get shortness of breath too , but may be due too the fact I smoke......quitting this weekend!! : )
